Start with a country. Each page ranks its highest scoring roads and explains what the scoring found, which is rarely the list you would expect. Italy’s best tarmac runs further south than the postcards suggest. Germany’s ceiling is lower than its neighbours because the terrain is genuinely flatter, not because the roads are worse. Norway has six roads above 70 and every one of them is worth the flight.

Scores are geometry, not experience. A road can post 90 and still be a crawl behind motorhomes in August, so where drivers have logged a road and told us whether it was worth it, we say so on the road’s own page.
